Prospective Students

The University of Michigan started the first collegiate aeronautics program in the United States in 1914, just 11 years after the Wright Brothers' first controlled, powered flights at Kitty Hawk. Since then, the Department has graduated more than 6,000 aeronautical and aerospace engineers. Both our graduate and undergraduate programs were ranked #3 in the nation by US News & World Report 2013 and number 1 among public institutions.

Our student and family visits last approximately 1.5 hours. During this time, students and their families will meet with our Undergraduate Advisor, Professor Luis Bernal, and receive a full tour of our facility. Classroom visits during the academic year are welcomed with advanced notice. Visits are done by appointment through the College of Engineering.
