Our Shared Space
The way we choose to use our space says a lot about our priorities. Through events and inclusive physical spaces across campus, we’re committed to giving members of the University community places to come together and feel safe, included and supported.
The Wellness Zone located in Pierpont Commons offers a variety of ways to unwind and de-stress, such as massage chairs, SAD light therapy, meditation and yoga tools, and other wellness resources.
Reflection rooms offer space for meditation, prayer and/or time in quiet reflection. U-M provides three reflection rooms on north campus – in Pierpont Commons, the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science building and the North Campus Research Complex. University-wide there are 15 such spaces available.
U-M is home to 54 lactation and personal care rooms, including several on north campus. They provide private and comfortable space for nursing mothers.
Gender Inclusive Restrooms

The map below outlines the locations of 93 unisex restrooms around U-M, which are inclusive to individuals regardless of gender identity or presentation.
Each January, North Campus celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with the MLK Spirit Awards, presented to students, organizations, staff and faculty who exemplify a commitment to social justice, diversity, and inclusion.
We sponsor multiple lectures a year on topics related to diversity, equity and inclusion.
