Summer Undergraduate Research in Engineering (SURE)
Summer Undergraduate Research in Engineering (SURE) offers 10-12 week full-time summer research internships to outstanding undergraduate students who have entered or completed their junior year. These students have the opportunity to conduct research with some of the country’s leading faculty in a wide range of engineering disciplines and to assess their interest in pursuing research at the PhD level.
Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP)
The U-M Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP) offers outstanding undergraduates who are underrepresented in their field of study the opportunity to conduct intensive research across a variety of disciplines. The goal is to prepare students for advanced studies in a PhD-granting program.
Vertically Integrated Project (VIP) Research Teams
Through the Multidisciplinary Design Program, undergraduate and graduate students work alongside postdocs, research scientists and faculty members on immersive, engineering-based design projects for credit. All majors are welcome. The program requires a two-term minimum commitment with an opportunity for a summer research stipend. Students are encouraged to continue beyond two terms so that they can become leaders in the lab.
Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP)
The Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) is an award-winning program that pairs first- and second-year students with U-M faculty and research scientists to create research partnerships. All schools and colleges at U-M actively participate in UROP, providing a wealth of potential research topics.
