International Experience

The World Needs Global Engineers
Tomorrow’s engineers will work with colleagues and partners from other cultures to solve our world’s most pressing problems. To better understand those challenges, our students need real, face-to-face experiences away from the comforts of campus. We’re preparing the next generation of victors to make a difference wherever in the world their talents take them.
U-M students survive harrowing rides on dirt roads and live off rice and beans as they work to provide engineering solutions for clean drinking waters in one of the largest wetlands in the world.
Our Efforts
Through our International Minor for Engineers and our work, study and volunteer abroad programs, we’re working toward a day when every Michigan Engineering undergraduate will have an international experience before they graduate. The number of Michigan Engineering students who study, work or volunteer abroad has doubled since 2010. The International Minor is now the most popular Michigan Engineering minor.
