Commitment to International Education

  • The University of Michigan (UM) has a long tradition of welcoming international students and faculty to study, teach and conduct research at UM.
  • Likewise, Michigan Engineering encourages students and faculty to gain experience beyond the US borders and participate in programs at other institutions throughout the world.
  • Recently, UM College of Engineering (CoE) created a long-term plan to greatly enhance the quality and depth of international opportunities for our students.  The goal is to become one of the top schools in the country for international engineering education.
  • Two key components of the international initiative are international internships and study abroad. The overall goal is to ensure that, within five years, 50% our undergraduates have gained some tangible international experience before they graduate.
  • All members of the UM CoE community are encouraged to support and participate in achieving these goals.
