Admission Requirements
Transfer Students
In order to be considered for admission, transfer students must take prerequisite courses at their home school, and have a minimum GPA. GPA requirements vary by department and may change at any time. Prequisites must be completed prior to enrollment at U-M.
Prerequisites:
- Math: 2 years of college level Calculus I, II, III, and Linear Algebra and Differential Equations
- Physics: 2 semesters or one full year of Calculus-based Physics with labs
- Chemistry: One semester of general college chemistry with lab
- Computing: One semester of computer programming, C++ preferred. * * Other languages are accepted by individual departments programming languages by department.
- English: A minimum of four (4) credits of English Composition.
Some departments have different or additional requirements:
Industrial & Operations Engineering (IOE)
- Math: IOE majors must have a Linear Algebra course equivalent to U-M MATH 214, not a combined Linear Algebra and Differential Equations course equivalent to U-M MATH 216
Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering
- Math: One year or two semesters of college level Calculus I and II
- Physics: One semester of Calculus-based Physics with lab
