What type of transfer student am I?
If you have taken college courses after high school graduation, you need to apply as a transfer student. There are different types of transfer students. To see which type of of transfer student, look at the following categories and choose which one fits you the best:
- Outside U-M - You are not currently attending U-M Ann Arbor
- From another U.S. school - A student who is not enrolled in a unit of the University of Michigan Ann Arbor campus and who seeks admission with advanced standing. You need to apply as a Transfer Student.
- International Student - A student who seeks admission with advanced standing that falls into any of the following categories: Is not a U.S. Citizen or permanent U.S. Resident, English is not your native language, or if you attended school outside of the U.S. If you are any one of these, you need to apply as an International Student.
- Current U-M Student – students currently enrolled at U-M.
- Cross-Campus - A students that is enrolled at U-M Ann Arbor, but not the College of Engineering. You need to apply as a Cross Campus Student.
- Branch Transfer –Students from UM-Flint & UM-Dearborn that want to apply to U-M Ann Arbor. Students from UM-Flint can either apply via the UM-Flint/U-M Ann Arbor Engineering Transfer Program or as a regular Transfer Student. Students attending U-M Dearborn are considered Transfer Students.
