This team, which is part of the student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), designs and builds a working 1:10 scale model of a steel highway bridge. Once constructed, the bridge must sustain a vertical load of 2,500 lbs. and a lateral load of 50 lbs. It is judged at the ASCE Regional Conference on speed of construction, weight, efficiency (weight vs. deflection), and aesthetics.
