Workshops and Seminars

CRLT North offers workshops and seminars for engineering faculty, graduate students, administrators, and staff. These programs allow participants to develop and improve their teaching skills, learn about their colleagues' research and scholarship in engineering education, and share ideas across disciplines.

  • Workshops offered for the current term are described here.
  • Previous workshops are listed here.
  • You may register for workshops and seminars here.
  • More seminars may be found on the CRLT web site: www.crlt.umich.edu.

CRLT Players

The CRLT Players Theatre Troupe is comprised of local professionals and student actors who perform sketches that engage faculty and graduate students in discussion of diversity, effective pedagogy, and institutional climate. Sketches bring to life research about the experiences of under-represented students and faculty. Topics include:

  • The "chilly" climate that women students may face in science and engineering classrooms;
  • Common dynamics and dilemmas in the faculty-graduate student mentoring relationship; and
  • How faculty gender and rank influence faculty hiring, mentoring, and the tenure decision process.

Multicultural and Diversity Initiatives

Customized programs can be developed on a various issues such as:

  • Identifying teaching strategies that promote retention of women and students of color;
  • Structuring teams to take advantage of cultural diversity; and
  • Developing a first-year experience that maximizes the potential for success of all students.
