Training details
Each term, CRLT-Engin works with the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education to organize and facilitate the new Engineering Graduate Student Instructor (GSI) Teacher Orientation. The orientation features two required practice teaching sessions; one at GSI orientation and another during Advanced Practice Teaching, two weeks later. Representatives from CRLT-Engin are present at GSI orientation programs for departments including Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Industrial and Operations Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

In addition to the training program on August 30, all new GSIs are REQUIRED to attend one of the Advanced Practice Teaching sessions with an active learning emphasis that are offered on the following days:
Wednesday, September 12, 2012 3:15 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. or 5:45 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Thursday, September 13, 2012 3:15 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. or 5:45 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Any new GSI who does not complete the training and one active learning practice teaching session will not be allowed to serve as a CoE GSI for Fall 2012.
Instructions for Advance Practice Teaching registration will be provided after August 30, 2012..
Registration should open in early August.
