ScholarPOWER Initiatives
ScholarPOWER Overview
ScholarPOWER is the overarching concept for MEPO's retention initiatives. ScholarPOWER is a comprehensive co-curricular program comprised of educational support services for students providing training for academic, personal and professional development.
The Academic Awards Banquet is the annual tribute to those students who have earned exemplary academic standing or have shown considerably improved performance.
ScholarPOWER Deliverables
ScholarPOWER F.O.R.U.M.S.
A comprehensive interactive workshop series encompassing academic, personal and professional development utilizing modern ideals and methods. The workshops are facilitated by corporate professionals, motivational speakers and student leaders.
MEPO Mentoring Program
Creating a sense of community by strengthening the connection between first-year and upper-class students and to provide leadership training and financial assistance for upper-class students
Ameritech Engineering Learning Resource Center (A.E.L.R.C.)
A one-stop shop for academic and career information, tutoring and counseling services, exam files, and other resources that enhance student academic and professional success. Students can participate in Peer-Facilitated Study Groups where first- and second-year students led by an upper-level student tackle class problems and learn vital study and problem-solving skills in a systematic approach.
Ford Summer Engineering Institute (SEI)
The Ford Summer Engineering Institute consists of three, on-campus summer academic preparatory programs for incoming first-year students: Alliance for Learning and Vision for Underrepresented Americans (ALVA); Engineering Bridge (E-Bridge); and Professionals-in-Training Program (PTP).
Pathways to Success - Learning Communities
The Learning Community builds upon the enrichment activities of the Ford Summer Engineering Institute by maintaining the communal networks of the college learning experience through monthly forums related to academic, personal, and professional development during the fall and winter semesters.
Academic Development Conference
The conference consists of parent workshops focusing on the changing role of the parent, and other insights related to academic success. Student workshops will address methods to enhance academic, personal, and professional development.
