1:00 - 2:00 PM, Featured Speaker: Prof. Joyce Penner
Stamps Auditorium, Walgreen Drama Center
Ralph J. Cicerone Distinguished University Professor of Atmospheric Science Joyce Penner has taught at the University of Michigan for the past 12 years. Her research in cloud microphysics and atmospheric chemistry has resulted in over 140 publications in refereed journals. Having taught and researched for over 30 years, Professor Penner has worked tirelessly to improve our understanding of atmospheric conditions through refined modeling, work that has attracted acute attention as the manmade effects of climate change have made their way into the consciousness of popular and political circles. She has been a member of the National Academies' Climate Research Committee and Co-Chair of the Scientific Coordination Committee of Modelling and Assessment of Climate Change, among many other professional affiliations. Most prominently, she was a contributor to the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a team awarded the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.
Topic will be announced shortly. You may find more information on Professor Penner at http://aoss.engin.umich.edu/people/penner.
