The purpose of the Fulbright Program is to increase mutual understanding between the people of the U.S. and other countries. The U.S. Department of State makes Fulbright fellowships available to approximately 1,700 U.S. students annually to study, conduct research, teach English, or train in the creative arts in more than 135 countries worldwide.

The competition is administered at U-M through the International Institute. At the information session, a U-M Fulbright Program Advisor will describe the application and selection process and provide suggestions for making your application more competitive.

Applicants should attend an information session and familiarize themselves with the Fulbright website, paying particular attention to the Country Summaries and Preparing an Application sections. After attending an information session applicants should meet individually with the appropriate Fulbright Program Advisor:
