Apply to be a Peer Advisor

The EAC hires Engineering students to work as Peer Advisors to support the daily functions of our office. Peer Advisors play an active role during summer orientation along with the day to day responsibilities throughout the academic year.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • attend and participate in the training program
  • be familiar with the rules and regulations posted in the 1st Year Handbook, College of Engineering Bulletin, and the Honor Code
  • be able to answer general questions about courses, scheduling, important dates, departmental programs, campus resources, and inform students of the CoE's policies and procedures concerning first-year and undeclared students in a professional and helpful manner
  • be able to assist with some evenings and EAC workshops/programs
  • assist students, especially during orientation with Wolverine Access
  • perform front desk duties when necessary, which may include answering the phone and responding to questions
  • be familiar with the CAEN system
  • respond to student inquiries posted in the ctools online chat room
  • serve as a role model representing the CoE to students
  • create articles for the EAC Advising Matters newsletter

Peer Advisors work an average of 5 hours a week during the academic year and between 18-28 hours during summer orientation.
