Purpose of the Engineering Peer Mentoring Program
The College of Engineering Peer Mentoring Program connects new engineering students to the College by matching them with experienced engineering mentors. This connection provides support and resources to first-year students that enhance their transition to the College. It builds community, promotes student involvement, and encourages successful development through their academic, social, and personal endeavors.
Goals and Objectives

- Get the inside scoop on where to buy your books, how to drop/swap a class, how to use the UM bus system, learning your way around campus, how to explore engineering majors, recommendations for professors, etc.

Expectations and Responsibilities
- Active participation - attend events, especially the Kick Off in September
- Communicate with your mentor frequently and respond to their messages
- Keep appropriate boundaries with your mentor
- Ask for help and guidance when needed
- Be open and honest about your classes, studies, transition
- Be open-minded to new ideas, activities, and issues, even if you don't agree
- Share feedback with your mentors
- Respect your mentor's time and efforts
