Please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to verify that you sent your scores to the University. If you did not request to have scores sent to U-M, please contact the College Board Testing Center.
Students seeking approval to transfer credit completed at a college or university while enrolled in high school are required to have their high school counselor or school official complete the College of Engineering Dual Enrollment Form. The completed form should be mailed directly from the high school to the College of Engineering Credit Evaluation office. You can download the form by clicking here.
The student should also have official transcripts directed from the college/university to the College of Engineering Credit Evaluation office.
If you have questions, please contact:

For more information on tranfer credit, check the document entitled "Summer Transfer Credit Guide (pdf)" on the right side bar.
To quickly view courses that have already been pre-approved for transfer from other institutions refer to the following two database:
If you cannot locate your selected institution or courses on the Transfer Equivalency Databases, you will need to submit a Transfer Credit Approval form: https://www.engin.umich.edu/students/academics/transfercreditapproval/index.jsp. You also need to submit a course description and syllabus to the Office of Recruitment and Admissions in 1108 Lurie or engincredit@umich.edu
The Office of Recruitment and Admissions will evaluate whether the course is equal to the same U-M course. Please allow 1-3 weeks for courses to be evaluated, and call ORA with questions: 734-647-7101.
The Registrar’s Office will post Spring/Summer Term course schedules in March ( http://umich.edu/~regoff/schedule/ ) and you can register for Spring/Summer courses at the same time you register for Fall Term courses in April. Six credits per term is considered full time; you can take a maximum of nine credits each term.
First, you need to exhaust all of the options available. Try all scheduling combinations you can - remember, for first-year engineering students, ENGR 100 or 101, Math, and science courses are priorities. Build your schedule around these courses.
If you still find that the classes you need to take are full, you can do the following:
1) First, add yourself to the waitlist if the option is available on Wolverine Access. Then, go to the first day of class and speak with the instructors about being added into the course.
2) If there is no waitlist option, contact the department offering the course to find out if you can be added to the waitlist or given an override. Here are the contacts for some common departments:
Go to the International Programs in Engineering (IPE) office, 245 Chrysler Center, or visit the IPE website for more information.
Talk with your EAC advisor about your plans.
Attend a Cross-Campus Transfer Information Session. To view dates/times, go to the LSA website: http://www.lsa.umich.edu/transfer
Meet with an LSA advisor to discuss your new career path and officially apply. To make an appointment call: 734-764-0332
Note: You must complete your first year in the College of Engineering with a 2.0 GPA to be eligible to transfer.
No, as long as you pass the course with a C or better, you will receive the credit. No grades will be recorded on your U-M transcript.
First, discuss the situation with your EAC advisor.
To view the process, go to: http://www.engin.umich.edu/bulletin/rules/transfer.html
If you are among the first few on the waitlist, chances are good you will get a spot. Always be sure to attend the first day of class and speak with the instructor about getting in.
You should always have a backup class in case you cannot get into your preferred course. Remember that you can add/drop classes in the first three weeks of the Fall or Winter Term without consequence.
As an engineering student, you will have a challenging course load. For each hour you spend in class, you should expect to study at least 2-4 hours outside of class. It is not unusual for students to study for 35+ hours a week. Study time includes homework, reading, going to office hours and academic resource labs, working with peers, etc.
The VARK is a questionnaire that provides users with a profile of their learning preferences. Your results will show preferences for Visual, Aural, Reading/Writing, or Kinesthetic ways of learning new information.
Follow the link to see which way you learn best! Then, talk with your advisor about which study strategies and U-M resources would work best for you.
Contact the individual language department (i.e., Department of Asian Languages, Romance Languages, etc.) to find out when you can take the exam.
No, the LSA deadlines do not apply to engineering students.
The College of Engineering has their own drop/add and pass/fail deadlines that you will follow for all of your classes, regardless of the school or college offering the course. To see the deadlines for this term, you can check the CoE Bulletin: http://www.engin.umich.edu/students/bulletin/intro/deadlines.html
1. Go to the Engineering Advising Center, 230 Chrysler Center, or your engineering department, if you are declared.
2. Fill out a drop/add form.
3. Obtain signature of course instructor.
4. Obtain signature of EAC or Program Advisor.
5. Submit the form to the Engineering Records Office,
145A Chrysler Center
A 'W' means that you dropped a class after the deadline, and the College approved the drop. It looks better than a failing grade, so it is a good choice if you think you will not pass the course. Your GPA is not affected.
A few "W's" can be expected during your time at U-M. However, you do not want to drop courses often. Talk with your advisor if you have trouble keeping up with your course work.
You have the first nine weeks of the Fall or Winter Term to elect a course pass/fail. Refer to the CoE Bulletin for this term's dates: http://www.engin.umich.edu/bulletin/intro/deadlines.html
Go to www.umich.edu/~regoff/calendar/
NOTE: Be aware that poor performance does not constitute an extenuating circumstance. All petitioned drops are processed with a "W" on the transcript.
When registering for the class, all you need to do is check the pass/fail box in Wolverine Access.
