Welcome Day: Friday, August 31st, 2012
Welcome Day is a joint effort between the Engineering Advising Center and the University of Michigan Engineering Council to welcome the undergraduate first year and new transfer students to the inspirational and innovative College of Engineering. Afternoon activities create a fun atmosphere for students to meet each other, learn about the college and become acclimated to campus. Students will come to the North Campus Diag to enjoy the event, which will take place on Friday, September 2nd, 2011 from 11:30am to 4:30pm.

- 11:30-1:00pm – Lunch and Live DJ – Location Duderstadt Gallery
- 12:00-2:30pm – Information Fair: Departments, Offices and Student groups promote their activities
- 1:00-2:00pm – ‘Secrets to Success Panel and IM games'*
- 1:30pm: 'Rubber Duck Races in the Lurie Pond'
- 2:00-3:00pm -- 'Secrets to Success Panel, IM games, and U-build'*
- 2:30pm: 'Rubber Duck Races in the Lurie Pond'
- 3:00-3:50pm – 'IM games and U-build' *
- 3:00pm -- Ice Cream Social
* Students can rotate through the different afternoon activities. ‘Secrets to Success’ is a workshop hosted by the University of Michigan Engineering Council where incoming students can speak first-hand with College of Engineering facutly, staff and current students about their experiences and expectations. U-Build is an interactive group activity which has the students work in teams to effectively accomplish an engineering task, sign-ups for U-build will be available during check-in for lunch.
Majors Fair
The Engineering Advising Center hosts a Majors Fair every Winter Term. Faculty and student representatives from each department gather on North Campus. First-year and undeclared students are invited to attend and learn more about major options.
Engineering Week
Every year, students organize Engineering Week events to increase public awareness and appreciation of the engineering profession. During the week, there are planned activities for engineers in math, science, and engineering. This event is not only celebrated by the University of Michigan, but also by over 100 students societies and major corporations. Engineering Week is one of the many activities planned by student organizations to promote unity among the CoE faculty, staff, and students.
