It’s been a very exciting winter semester with much of the details needed to race finally falling into place. As the sun starts to shine here in Michigan, Momentum is ready and waiting to soak up all the rays. Since unveiling Momentum at the Auto Show in January, the team has gone to work developing Momentum into a National Championship racecar. We’re very fortunate for all the sponsors who have helped us get to where we are. We’ve been fortunate to engage both new and old sponsors to a record level; some of which you’ll read about in the subsequent articles.

The University of Michigan Solar Car Team will be hosting a Spring Sponsor Reception on Wednesday, May 11^th 2005 at 4:30pm at the Duderstadt Center on North Campus. We invite all of our sponsors, supporters and friends of the team to join us. We will be introducing the 2005 Race Crew along with a chance for an up-close look at the race-ready Momentum.

Next week, the team will be traveling to Topeka, Kansas to compete in the 2005 Formula Sun Grand Prix. This is a weeklong track event held each year and serves as a qualifier for the North American Solar Challenge. The team is anxious to get on the track and prove Momentum against the best of the competition.

With the races rapidly approaching, it is hard to believe the 2005 team was formed nearly two years ago. It is our desire to follow in the Michigan tradition of excellence and bring home a fourth National Championship this summer!
