Fox River and Green Bay PCB Fate and Transport

John Wolfe
Limno-Tech, Inc.

Abstract

In October 2001, the State of Wisconsin and USEPA released a proposed plan to dredge and landfill 7.25 million cubic yards of PCB-contaminated sediment from the Fox River (WI). The source of the PCB contamination was the local manufacture and recycling of carbonless copy paper in the 1950's, 60's, and early 70's. Limno-Tech has been involved in Fox River studies for 5 years, collecting and analyzing data to characterize the site, and constructing a PCB fate and transport model. The talk will present some of the results of that work, along with observations on the State's proposed remediation plan and the technical work that supports it.
