The Great Lakes are one of the richest natural resources in North America, but they have been beset by many challenges in the past from the impacts of a rising population on their shores, and increased threats from chemical pollution, invasive species, and eutrophication. Today, while many of these threats have been addressed, there are new concerns that continue to make management of the Great Lakes a challenge. This seminar will explore some of today's challenges posed by climate change, newly discovered chemicals, and conflicting uses of the lakes, as well as talk about new approaches to assessing their ecological condition and response.
