Technology Transfer: How do we do that in the environmental sector?

Tim Faley
Director, Technology Transfer & Commercialization, University of Michigan

Abstract

The general public benefits most directly from advances in science when these advances are incorporated into products or services that impact their lives. Transferring research results from Universities into the commercial sector is therefore an essential link in creating a direct public benefit from University research. As a result, it is never too early to begin thinking about how this transfer may be accomplished with your research results. Dr. Faley will give an overview of the technology transfer process at the University and how researchers fit into that process. Recent results of the technology transfer process in the College of Engineering will be highlighted. Discussions will then focus on how this process can be shaped for environmental-oriented technologies.
