One of the main functions of ChEGS is to facilitate a unified, sociable department. It has been observed by the returning ChEGS officers that this goal is not being met. Most events we sponsor have relatively low attendance, and are regularly attended by the same people. To address this issue, we are trying to organize a variety of new events. In addition to the events we normally provide (bar night, ice cream social, bowling) we may also try laser tag, monthly game nights, tailgates at the some of the football games, and even some outreach events such as volunteering at a soup kitchen or working at the Ronald McDonald house. But we need more input!!! Let us know what YOU would like us to organize.
We would like to encourage everyone in the department to give your input and let us know what you think. One way to contact us is by emailing us or by sending an anonymous comment. You can also check out the schedule for future events and pictures from previous events on this website. The officers will also be having monthly meetings to discuss issues and plan events for the month. This meeting will be open to graduate students in the entire department to offer their ideas and help plan events. These are your ChEGS officers for this coming year:
