- Detroit Chapter offers a dinner meeting once every month. This
is an excellent opportunity to do professional networking and get your
name well known in the materials science industry. Carpools are
available.

- What: ASM - Sustaining Members' Night
- Topic: Table Top Displays and Poster exhibits, highlighting small, entrepreneurial companies in Southeast Michigan. Students and
Professionals will circulate among the displays before dinner as in
the classic "job fair". Students will be encouraged to attend. Brief
after-dinner talks will highlight the invited companies.

EAC Clearing the Fog Event
The EAC is hosting its annual "clearing the fog"
event at Pizza House this year. Undeclared undergraduate
engineers are invited to come to pizza house and learn about the
different engineering disciplines. Representatives from each
engineering department will be available to answer questions.
Alpha Sigma Mu will be sending volunteers from the Materials
Science and Engineering department to help out.

MSE Student-Faculty Mixer
This year, the student-faculty mixer will take
place at Buffalo Wild Wings. This is a chance for students to get
to know their professors on a more personal level, and vice versa.

NanoCamp 2009
Each
year, the College of Engineering puts on a NanoCamp for middle school
and high school students to learn about science to inspire them to
pursue a science-related field in the future. This year, they
will be learning about nanotechnology, microelectronics, and more.
Alpha Sigma Mu will be sending volunteers to help out.

Annual MSE Banquet
The MSE department will be hosting their annual
banquet for students and faculty in early April. The banquet will
take the place of the weekly MMS luncheon. Free buffet food will
be provided. At the banquet, the winners of the Anvil Award and
Worth Prize will be announced. New Alpha Sigma Mu members and
officers will be recognized. If you would like to join us, please
sign up in the MSE lounge.

MSE Spring Picnic 2009
Every Spring and Fall, Professor Hosford of the MSE
department, is kind enough to host a departmental picnic at his home.
Come celebrate the warmer weather while we eat free hot dogs and
burgers, play volleyball, play botchyball, and more. Bring your
significant others and dogs are welcome. If you would like to
attend, please sign up in the MSE lounge.
