Volunteer Events
All MUSES events are designed to be fun, fruitful, and promote discourse and friendship among new and continuing female graduate engineers and scientists. This is made possible through our main financial supporter, the Women in Engineering office (WIE). Consequently, the WIE office hosts a variety of events throughout the year which are intended to increase exposure to engineering and science among young females, minorities, etc. MUSES periodically receives requests from the WIE office to participate in volunteer events. In recent years, it has been difficult to acquire volunteers for some of these events; in addition, there are some MUSES events that are more popular than others, but unfortunately funding only provides for a select number of participants to attend. Therefore we are seeking to leverage MUSES members’ participation in the events (particularly the more popular social events) with participation in these volunteer events as well as the non-social MUSES events. This year, we will explore a new initiative that we hope will increase participation in the volunteer events and non-social MUSES events: MUSES members that participate in these events will be given priority to attend the social MUSES events. A preliminary list of upcoming volunteer events can be found below. Please mark them on your calendars and begin planning which ones you might be interested in participating in.
