The MUSES goddess represents the undying vibes of empowerment that reside in graduate women of color. She transcends the constant impediments encountered in the sometimes intimidating world of graduate school and is a symbol of the positive energy that graduate women of color should aspire to attain and uphold. Let us embrace ourselves and inspire each other to rise to indefinable heights in our careers and life overall.
.: Who We Are :.
MUSES was founded in 1999 by a group of five minority women in response to a growing need on the part of the graduate community to provide a warm, supportive environment for women of color in engineering and science to feel free to express their concerns with graduate life.
MUSES acts as a foundation upon which graduate women of color can build lasting friendships and form a concrete network within the University of Michigan community. Our goals are to give each other the emotional support and understanding we all need to complete our Masters and Doctoral degrees, encourage our undergraduate sisters to follow their dreams...and to remind each other that life is indeed fun!
.: What We Do :.
Each month, a different member hosts an event with a predetermined topic. The hostess can present the topic in the best way she sees fit. Each event is different, educational, and always entertaining!
