BECOME A SWE MEMBER FOR THE 2009-2010 ACADEMIC YEAR
Want to stay active in SWE? Want access to a wealth of resources, including webinars, an online career center, and SWE magazines? Renew your SWE membership today! Here are some details:
- you can pay online (www.swe.org/memberservices) or by mail
- it's $20 to SWE National
- you can get a discount if you're also a member of AISES, NSBE, or SHPE
Additional member benefits include:
-attendance at Regional/National conferences
-elevated membership
-scholarships (both from UM and National)
-voting eligibility at elections
Current membership will expire June 30th, so renew your dues soon!
ONLINE CALENDAR
Want an easy way to view and manage all the SWE Events? SWE is now sharing a Google calendar with all of our members. Various SWE events and seminars will be posted on this calendar.

Interested in being an officer in SWE next year? We are still looking for talented, enthusiastic SWE members to become officers!
Being an officer has many benefits, including attending a retreat every semester and being able to plan events for the society. Officer positions run from April 2009 through April 2010. See the Officer Descriptions and Officer Application!

SEE CAMP
Looking for a great way to spend a week of your summer and reach out to the community?!
We are looking for SEE (Summer Engineering Exploration) Camp counselors for this summer's camp. The camp will be running from July 12, 2009 until July 18, 2009.
SEE Camp is a camp for high school students interested in math, science or engineering and is held here at the University of Michigan. We will be taking tours of U-M's engineering departments, factory tours, participating in a challenge course, and lots of other fun activities. All housing and meals will be provided for the duration of the camp.

VOLUNTEER AND ATTEND A CIS
Find your dream job! Corporate Information Sessions (CIS) are here to help!
CIS = Corporate Information Session = meet recruiters, eat free food, drop resumes, get the inside scoop on what your future employers REALLY do.
You can sign up to volunteer at www.engin.umich.edu/soc/swe/cis Please email me at least 24 hours in advance if you can no longer attend a session you signed up for. If you do not inform me in a timely manner, you will then need to volunteer at two sessions to receive one CIS point. If you sign up to volunteer at a session online and do not receive a confirmation email from me, please either sign up again online or email me at meganelb@umich.edu Thanks!
***If you sign up for a session and can no longer attend, please let me know via email at least 24 hours in advance. If you sign up and then don't show up without timely notification, you will need to help out at TWO CIS sessions in order to receive ONE CIS point. This is a new rule we are putting into effect because there are a lot of lot of sessions especially this time of year, and it's quite hectic when expected volunteers do not show up. ***

PASS OUT FLIERS
Helping flyering / passing out quarter sheets is much appreciated, but will no longer earn membership points.
Always feel free to stop by the SWE office and grab some sheets to distribute on your way to class.
CIS COMPANY OUTREACH
If you are familiar with the CIS program and are comfortable emailing recruiters about it, then is a great opportunity for you to earn your CIS point!
We have opportunities for you to email corporate contacts and let them know about our program to encourage them to host a session. Major things about the program you should hit:
-we handle ALL the logistics (room reservations, catering, publicity)
-casual way for recruiters to meet students
-a possible place to fill interview spots
-an opportunity to share career opportunities with students
-our longstanding tradition and reputation of professionalism, attention to detail and consumer satisfaction
- include something along the lines of "If this is not your area of service within the company, please feel free to forward this information to an appropriate contact"
