The YES program sessions have evolved over the years to cater to the students needs and interests. The YES program maintains its strong focus on Engineering and Science by hosting fun sessions teaching about chemistry, physics, mathematics, the environment, the internet, and how things work.
All of these sessions provide the students with a broad band of skills that they utilize during their design competitions. Previous design competitions had students build styrofoam vehicles, design a vehicle to safely catch and transport an egg to a specified location, as well as building a structure to support the egg's weight with popsicle sticks.
The YES program continues striving to motivate young students to pursue four-year degrees in engineering and science. The YES program is free of charge for all students and transportation is provided from selected locations within Southwest Detroit.
