Biomedical optics is a highly interdisciplinary field, which utilizes various optical technologies to address challenging problems virtually in all medical specialties. Our group has been conducting a number of exciting research projects in this field, with special emphasis on developing ultrasensitive and ultrafast laser based technologies for biosensing and imaging. With a close collaboration with the Michigan Nanotechnology Institute for Medicine and Biological Sciences, we have involved in several research programs that take advantage of the unique combination between ultrafast laser technologies and nanobiotechnologies for the development of novel nanomedicine.
