BOTTLENECKS SOLUTIONS

Most production systems need improvement and may be improved. It
appears
that the best way to accomplish this is to identify and eliminate
production bottlenecks. Although these facts have been widely known and
shared by most practitioners for a long time, a "right" definition of
bottlenecks and, respectively, methods for their identification have
appeared just recently, based on a system-theoretic approach to
manufacturing. In this talk, bottlenecks in various types of production
systems will be defined, methods for their identification will be
presented, and numerous applications in the automotive industry will be
described.
