Student Event Sponsorship
The University of Michigan Engineering Council (UMEC)--the student governing body for Michigan engineers--is one of the largest such councils in the U. S., with members from more than 40 student societies representing over 6,000 students. Though each society is free to conduct activities for its own constituents, UMEC also sponsors a series of programs and events that the entire Michigan Engineering community can participate in and enjoy. These events are student-planned and executed, but require outside support to be fully realized.
The benefits to your organization
Sponsorship of student events at Michigan Engineering is an excellent way to raise the profile of your organization and leave a positive impression among a key audience of potential recruits. Listed below is a sampling of annual programs and events you might consider sponsoring.
- First-Year Initiative
This series of related events (September/October) is designed to help acclimate first-year students to the College of Engineering. Organizations may sponsor an individual event or the program as a whole. Sponsor names are noted on posters, t-shirts, and program literature. Contributions range from $500 to $1,000. - Student Calendar Handbook
This publication serves as a day calendar/organizer and is freely distributed to all engineering students; it also contains important information used by students on a daily basis, including contact information for College of Engineering offices. Organizations may sponsor ad space in half-page, full-page, full-month, and cover increments (January/February). Ad prices range from $600-$3,000. - North Campus Service Day
During this Winter semester event (mid-February), Engineering students perform community service at sites throughout Washtenaw County. All participants receive a free T-shirt listing the day's sponsors. Minimum contribution: $500. - Springfest
This end of the academic year event (mid-April) is an outdoor celebration, held on the North Campus Diag, that includes free food, games, and prizes. Sponsors may distribute literature and are listed on all promotional materials and T-shirts. Additionally, sponsors are invited to attend Springfest to take part and meet students. Contributions range from $500-$6,000
