Endowed Professorships
Michigan Engineering's tradition of providing quality education and innovative research relies, in large part, on the activity and reputation of its faculty. Although we consistently rank among the top engineering institutions nationwide, we must continue our efforts to grow our faculty endowment and attract the leaders and the best.
The benefits to your organization
Appointment to an endowed professorship is reserved for an individual of national or even international stature who has established a distinguished record of service and scholarship. By associating your name with such an individual, you reap the public relations rewards associated with his/her achievements and raise your profile on campus.
- Naming opportunity
Your organization is given the opportunity to name its professorship; all professorship recipients will carry that name for the duration of the support. - Criteria
While unrestricted professorships offer the greatest flexibility to the College, you may specify some preferences for award criteria, including program of study. - Cost
An endowed professorship fund provides partial salary support and corresponding fringe benefits as well as discretionary monies for research, travel, and other activities. An endowed professorship fund can be established with a gift of $2 million. Funding commitments may be met over a five-year period. - Duration
Once it is half funded, a professorship is available for appointment. A fully funded endowed professorship fund exists in perpetuity.
