Robert J. Vlasic – Senior Executive, Trusted Adviser

Robert J. Vlasic (BSE ME ’49) has proved that there are many kinds of giving. For that, Michigan Engineering will be forever grateful.

Throughout Progress & Promise: 150th Anniversary Campaign he demonstrated once again that he’s an enthusiastic supporter of Michigan Engineering as well as an invaluable friend and advisor, imparting wisdom born of experience and helping to address important issues. During the Design for Impact Campaign – years before Progress & Promise: 150th Anniversary Campaign began – he endowed the position of Robert J. Vlasic Dean of Engineering, the first endowed deanship in any University of Michigan college or school.

Vlasic, who founded the Vlasic Foods Company and then led the Campbell Soup Company, is a long time civic leader and has served in key roles at the Cranbrook Educational Community and the Henry Ford Health System.

“My engineering education at Michigan provided a foundation and direction for my entire life. I’m
privileged and honored to support Michigan Engineering in maintaining our nation’s leadership in the practical application of science to human needs.”
Bud Williamson (BSE EE ’52, MBA ’54)

“The world and life have been mighty good to me. And I want to put something back.”
   Ted Turner

“Michigan Engineering has a long history of training the scientists and engineers who help make this country great. We are pleased to do our part to ensure that students with the ability to thrive and succeed at Michigan have the same opportunity to do so as I did.”
     Scott Macomber (BSE EE ’79)
