  • Entrepreneurship Excitement
    Some 100 small companies and non-profits participated in the first Entrepreneurial Opportunities Day. With support from the Center for Entrepreneurship, MPowered (student organization), the U.S. Department of Labor and others, the day included a career fair, resource center and faculty presentations.   • New Nanofab Facility to Bolster Economic Development
    Better biomedical sensors, more energy-efficient lighting and improved ultra low-power integrated computer circuits are expected to result from the new Robert H. Lurie Nanofabrication Facility. More External Link
  • We Are the Champions!
    wo Electrical Engineering and Computer Science doctoral students and an MBA student from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business won first place in the national CleanTech Venture Challenge hosted by the University of Colorado. The team plans to commercialize an energy-scavenging battery replacement technology for wireless sensors. More External Link
  • Graduate Student of the Year
    The National Society of Black Engineers has selected Jonathan Madison as its 2008 "Graduate Student of the Year." More External Link
  • ChE Car Team Triumphs at Regional Competition
    The newly rebuilt Chemical Engineering Car team excelled at the AIChE North Central Regional Competition, earning first place in car performance, second place in the poster competition, and the Students' Choice Award. More External Link

  • Cain Receives Early-Stage Biomedical Research Award
    The Hartwell Foundation selected BME Professor Charles Cain (PhD '72) to receive a Hartwell Individual Biomedical Research Award for "Non-invasive Ultrasonic Tissue Erosion for Congenital Heart Disease Therapy." The Hartwell competition funds early-stage, innovative and cutting-edge biomedical research to benefit children.
  • Tishman Professor Named
    CSE Professor John Laird (BS '75) has been named the John L. Tishman Professor of Engineering. This new endowed chair was established by John Tishman (BSE EE '46, DEng Hon '00) to support the teaching and scholarship of a distinguished faculty member.
