MRacing is #1
Since the Michigan International Speedway (MIS) competition in May, MRacing is now ranked number one in the world out of a field of 475 teams. Get all of the latest information on the new MRacing blog. The team's MR-11 car finished strong at MIS, bringing home an FEV Spirit of Innovation Award in honor of their extensive engine simulation work. This summer, the team is preparing for the Formula Student Germany race in August. On March 21, the MRacing Formula Society of Automotive Engineers team revealed the 2011 MR-11 during a ceremony held at the U-M Museum of Art. This year's car has new systems that decrease the car's weight by about two or three pounds compared to last year. Additionally, because of a successful previous season, the car has been sponsored by Roush Racing, a division of the automotive modification company Roush Enterprises. Roush Racing donated a brand new suspension system to the MRacing team. The team is surpassing their notable accomplishments from last year, during which they placed second at the international Formula Student Germany competition and received a Formula SAE rating as the number one student team in America and number three in the world. MRacing’s road to worldwide recognition began in 1986, when just a few students built MRacing’s first car in their apartment. The team became a top competitor in the 90’s, and its success sparked the fiery enthusiasm of the past decade, in which MRacing has been a consistent leader in FSAE technology, from vehicle traction control and extensive use of data acquisition, to MRacing-designed dampers and brake calipers, and ongoing work in areas like anti-lock brakes, rapid prototyping, vehicle simulation and alternative materials. |
