Michigan Engineering Spring Commencement 2012
This weekend, more than 1,800 students celebrated their graduation from Michigan Engineering. Commencement Exercises were held on Sunday, April 29, 2012 in Rackham Auditorium (for graduate students) and Hill Auditorium (for undergrads). The ceremonies included remarks by the dean in addition to student speakers and a special keynote speaker. This year's keynote speaker was Steve Mollenkopf (MSE EE '93), president and chief operating officer for Qualcomm. Alumni class representatives from past years were also on hand to congratulate graduates. Images from the engineering ceremonies are included at the bottom of this page. About the Engineering Commencement speaker Steve Mollenkopf (MSE EE '93) serves as president and chief operating officer of Qualcomm, leading the company’s business operations, product and worldwide sales groups. In this role, Mollenkopf continues to serve as president of Qualcomm CDMA Technologies (QCT). He also is a member of Qualcomm’s Executive Committee, helping to drive Qualcomm’s overall global strategy. Since 2008, Mollenkopf has led QCT and served as executive vice president and group president of Qualcomm, driving growth and providing critical technical and operational leadership. QCT, the company’s semiconductor business, is the world’s largest wireless chip supplier and fabless semiconductor company, in terms of revenue. Mollenkopf joined Qualcomm in 1994 as an engineer before joining the QCT team in 1999.
