College Honors Seven Staff
Seven College of Engineering staff members received the 2008 Excellence in Staff Service Awards during a ceremony, May 2. The awards recognize their creativity, commitment and dedication.
Canale
Recipients of the Excellence in Staff Service Awards are:
- Brad Canale, executive director of college relations, received the first Judith A. Pitney Staff Service Career Award for his 26 years of service in development at the College.
- Mercedes Barcia, director of academic advising in the Engineering Advising Center. Barcia has 26 years of service at U-M and 13 years at the College.
- Bruce Block, lead engineer in research at the Space Physics Research Lab in the Department of Atmospheric, Oceanic and Space Sciences. Block has 31 years of service.
- Stacie Edington, academic programs coordinator in International Programs. Edington has five years of service at the College.
- Eric Kirk, senior engineering technician in the Department of Aerospace Engineering. Kirk has 14 years of service at U-M and six years at the College.
- Lorelle Meadows, managing director of academic affairs at the CoE Office of Academic Affairs. Meadows has 20 years of service at the College.
- Yan Wang, contract and grant specialist in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Wang has 21 years of service at U-M and eight years at the College.
The Excellence in Staff Service Awards honor outstanding staff members who have made vital contributions to the College of Engineering’s success. They recognize unusual initiative or creativity, novel problem-solving resolution, cost-conscious innovations, a willingness to help others achieve their goals, outstanding supervisory skills, dependability, patience and commitment, collaboration and exemplary citizenship within the College.
