Industry Sponsors
How to get involved:
The Multidisciplinary Design (MD) Program welcomes the participation of industrial and governmental partners both small and large. There are many ways that sponsoring partners can contribute to and benefit from MD Program:
-
Joint Research with Faculty:
The MD Program works to match sponsors needs to faculty interests to support sponsored research of mutual benefit. These can be small, short projects or very large multi-year endeavors. The sponsor and the faculty members agree on deliverables, funding, timing, and the level of student involvement. The MD Program supports the students with skills training and project management and offers them an opportunity to earn the MD Minor through work done on the project.
-
Sponsor a Student Initiated Project or Competition Team (Multi-term):
Student teams are glad to accept direct sponsorship (or in kind donations) for their projects. We have many teams and many areas that would benefit from the support of a sponsor.
-
Sponsor a Design Class (Semester):
The MD Program team will help you match your sponsored project to one of the many College of Engineering design courses. Ideal projects produce valuable results for your company and are achievable within a 12-week semester. In some courses faculty choose projects prior to the beginning of the semester in others students choose their projects from an approved list provided by the faculty. Results are presented at Design Expo in December and April.
A list of our Design Courses and Faculty here.
Design class sponsors provide:
- A clear description of the problem and scope during the project submission period
- An industrial contact that is available to work with students 2 hours per week
- Funding of $5000 per course that is selected
Submission Dates for Sponsored Course Projects:
March - July 15 for Fall Term Courses (Sep – Dec)
End September - November 1 for Winter Term Courses (Jan – Apr)
Recruiting:
The MD Program produces a resume book highlighting the MD Program members: graduating seniors seeking full time employment and undergraduates seeking internships. Through the MD Program, these students have the practical experiences as well as the solid engineering coursework that makes them very strong candidates. Please contact the MD Program Office for your copy of our resume book.
