M-STEM

The M-STEM Academy is a 2-year commitment during which students are required to participate in a 6-week residential academic program held in conjunction with the Professionals in Training Program (PTP). During the summer M-STEM students will take courses in mathematics, computer programming, communication skills, and engineering problem solving. In addition they will attend workshops to facilitate their academic, professional, and personal development. Upon completion of the summer program M-STEM participants will receive $2000 to be used towards their educational expenses.

Throughout their first year at the University M-STEM Students will be provided with various academic and professional development resources such as an academic advisor, peer mentor, tutoring support and a success coach who will assess the students’ interests and create customized plans for their success. M-STEM students will receive an additional $1000 stipend for the successful completion of their first academic year. The following summer M-STEM students will be allowed to choose between a research experience and an internship, which will provide hands -on experience to further enhance their classroom education. During the second academic year students will receive tutoring and coaching based on their personal interests and will be greatly assisted in their transition to their desired major and department resources.
