May 10: Back to the Future : Alumni Seminars
Description: Please join us on Saturday, May 10, 2008, for the first-ever College of Engineering spring seminar, May 10: Back to the Future. This special opportunity is designed specifically for local Engineering alumni and friends to explore the College in an interactive, educational way as you observe how campus has changed.
Registration and a Welcome Reception begins promptly at 9am in the Masco Commons, Robert H. Lurie Engineering Center, 1221 Beal, Ann Arbor Michigan. You will have the option to choose your own schedule of events that day, consisting of hands-on demonstrations, tours and lectures, all designed to give you an in-depth look at the state of the College and showcase teaching, research and service activities. A lunch, featuring Associate Dean Tony England, will complete the day’s activities.

Fundamentals of Project Management
Description: Whether you are developing a website, planning an office renovation or reducing student waiting time, there are identifiable skills and techniques you can use to complete your project on time. This introductory course uses a simulation to take individuals through the process of completing a project on time and within budget.
You will learn to:
•Identify the various phases in managing a project
•Use project management techniques appropriate to each phase of the project
•Choose effective communication methods to others in the project
•Track project progress
•Assess individual styles of approaching project management
•Develop an appreciation for the "human" side of project management.
You will benefit by:
•Planning and managing successful projects
•Avoiding inherent time wasters
•Enhancing the effectiveness of teams working on the project
•Maintaining effective controls of a project in progress.
* Seating is limited to 12-15 people. First come first serve. It is also required that the participant take the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator which we will provide beforehand.
