Joint Institute Summer Program
Overview: The UM-SJTU Joint Institute summer program is a great way to learn about Chinese culture and earn credit towards your UM engineering degree. UM engineering courses are taught in English by UM Faculty and an introductory chinese culture and language course is led by SJTU faculty. A 6-week post-program internship opportunity is available for qualified students during July-August with major companies in Shanghai.
Dates: May 1 - June 23, 2008 (students must arrive on May 1st)
Optional Session 2 (6/25-8/14) and optional post-program internship available as a continuation of the program

Application Deadline: February 9, 2009
Eligibility: UM Engineering students with at least 2 semesters at UM. Transfer students must have completed at least 1 semester at UM. All students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.
Orientation: Admitted students must attend the mandatory orientation sessions.
- The program-specific session is traditionally held on the last Saturday in March.
- The second session will be held during the afternoon of the first winter term exam study day. (This is the day after the last day of classes for winter term).
- Upon arrival in Shanghai, students will attend a two-day welcome orientation before classes begin.
