Travel and Arrival Information

Metro Airport (DTW) in Detroit, Michigan is the closest airport. It is approximately 20-25 miles from the University of Michigan campus.

Try to plan travel so you will arrive during normal business hours (Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm). This will make it easier for you to find transportation to campus and to utilize any of the university services you might need.

We hope to help you arrange transportation from the airport to campus with a UM student Buddy (see Buddy Program for more information). If this is not possible, please consider these other possibilities on how to get to campus.

  • Select Ride costs $24 per person for a one-way trip. Reservations must be made at least two days in advance. These can be made over the phone by calling (866) 663-8898 or on their website at www.selectride.com.
  • Ken's Airport Shuttle Service costs approximately $45 one-way or $85 round-trip (exact prices are given when you make your reservation) to transport 1-10 people. They will pick up or drop off anywhere on campus. For information or to make a reservation (they are required!), call 1-888-789-6187.
  • You can also contact one of the local cab companies for a ride to/from the airport. Expect to pay between $40-50 one-way.
    Ann Arbor Taxi - (734) 214-9999
    Blue Cab - (734) 547-2222
    Veterans Cab - (734) 485-7797 or (734) 662-4477
    Yellow Cab - (734) 663-3355

Check-In

This check-in will provide you with very helpful information for the first few days after your arrival, so check in as soon as possible.

The University of Michigan International Center is located at 603 East Madison Street, between the Michigan Union and West Quadrangle Residence Hall.
