In order to help your transition into the new community, the College of Engineering will assign a UM engineering student to act as your UM Buddy for the first semester. 

UM Buddies are knowledgeable about the University of Michigan, the College of Engineering, and the Ann Arbor area, so please use them as a resource.  They will communicate with you via e-mail before the start of the semester.  They will also be able to provide you assistance in finding transportation from the airport upon arrival.

Buddies are usually matched based on department, academic level, and/or similar interests.  Your Buddy may have even studied or traveled in your  home country or have experience with another language. Please take the time to teach your Buddy about your home country and institution, as they teach you about UM.

You will receive the name and contact information for your Buddy before the start of the semester, usually in July (for Fall arrival) or December (for Winter arrival).
