Seeing the U-M Solar Car Team in Action

For the first time ever, fans had a chance to cheer on the U-M Solar Car Team as the American Solar Challenge wound its way through Ann Arbor on July 16, 2012.

This 1,600 mile endurance race started in Rochester, NY and ended in St. Paul, Minn. The team won it’s 7th national championship during this race. Alumni and friends were invited  to experience real time racing and join the team, alumni, and friends at a special celebration in the heart of campus.

Great video- u00a0I did a stop action on this video to see the very first Michigan car that was in this race. u00a0I was the U of M engineering recruiter for Amoco Oil for several years and convinced Amoco to provide a $5,000 check to support this effort (can see the Amoco Oil logo on the first car). u00a0And you have made the most of this competition. u00a0No surprise. Well done Wolverine engineers!nSteve HoldawaynBSME, Michigan 1977
