Engineering Alumni Groups

“There are almost 70,000 Michigan Engineering Alumni who span the globe and hold diverse professions and interests. You can help foster fellowship and bolster ties among alumni, students and faculty by getting involved.”

Get involved with the College of Engineering Alumni Community

As a graduate of the College of Engineering, you are automatically a member of the Engineering Alumni Community – a diverse group of close to 70,000 inventive, visionary professionals. You and your peers define the future of technology, business, medicine, the environment and many other areas. We invite you to connect with other alumni and celebrate the College of Engineering through the Alumni Board and other volunteer groups, MconneX, alumni events, volunteer initiatives and regional programs.
Alumni reconnect at an Alumni Society event.

How you can be active

  • Attend the Annual Alumni Board meeting
The annual Board business meeting is held each fall during Michigan Engineering Homecoming Weekend. Here the Board welcomes all returning Engineering graduates and Board elections are held.
  • Join the Alumni Board
The alumni board represents the Michigan Engineering Alumni community with 32 regional and local members. Members are elected for three-year terms; a member may serve two consecutive terms. Board elections are held yearly during Michigan Engineering Homecoming Weekend.
  • Nominate someone for an Alumni Award
The College of Engineering Alumni Awards honor those alumni who personify the College’s tradition of excellence. The awards are presented at the Alumni Awards Dinner, which is traditionally held during Michigan Engineering Homecoming Weekend each fall. Award categories include the Alumni Medal, Alumni Merit Awards, Alumni Distinguished Service Award and Alumni Recent Graduate Award.

Other Alumni Group Opportunities

Looking for a bigger (or smaller) perspective? There are a number of departmental, affiliate or university-wide groups for you to get involved with.

Join a Departmental Alumni Group

Many of the Michigan Engineering Departments have their own alumni organizations to further promote their initiatives. Departments with websites for their alumni groups include:

  • Aerospace Engineering
  • Atmospheric, Oceanic and Space Sciences
  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Civil and Environmental Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
  • Industrial and Operations Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering

U-M Alumni Association

The University-wide Alumni Association currently has 107,000 members, with a variety of opportunities for Wolverine alumni. Membership in the Association provides you with access to exclusive programs.

Affiliates of the Alumni Association

Several affiliate organizations allow alumni to engage with one another based on connections they may have had as students — connections based on race, ethnicity, gender, religion, and professional or social interests.
