Criteria for Current UM College of Engineering Students

*  entered or completed their junior year by the time of SURE internship.
*  students who have attained a GPA of 3.0 or above are strongly recommended.
*  identify an area of research or project to work with your department.
*  identify a faculty member who would be willing to serve as your research advisor/mentor (we    understand that this process may be ongoing and not finalized when completing the SURE    application).
*  the intent to pursue a graduate degree in engineering preferably Ph.D. program.
*  complete the SURE application by January 29, 2010.
*  individual departments may have additional application requirements; check with your SURE 
    contact. 

Criteria for Students from Other Institutions 

*  US Citizens or Permanent Residents only.
*  entered or completed their junior year by the time of SURE internship.
*  students who have attained a GPA of 3.2 or above are strongly recommended.
*  identify an area of research or project to work on in the selected department.
*  identify faculty member(s) who you may want to work with during the summer internship as your 
   research advisor/mentor.
*  the intent to pursue a graduate degree in engineering preferably Ph.D. program.
*  complete the following application requirements by January 29, 2010.
