Rachel Phillips
Industrial Operations Engineering

Rachel Phillips

Rachel is a native of Oklahoma and a graduate of Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. After attending Oklahoma State, Rachel began a career at a major pharmaceutical company where she worked as an Operations Team Associate specializing in Customer Logistics. Her desire to learn engineering management and accelerate her career growth fueled her decision to return back to school full-time and obtain a graduate degree. Now she is pursuing her M.S.E degree in Industrial and Operations Engineering through the GEM Fellowship here at the University of Michigan.

"When I decided that I wanted to switch my career and head back to school I spoke with a couple of U of M alumni and they highly recommended the IOE program. They explained to me that the alumni network, program, and diverse student body were key reasons they chose to come here. After attending IMPACT in the Spring of 2007 I immediately knew that U of M was the university for me. I was impressed by the campus and welcoming students. Since joining the IOE department my expectations have been exceeded. The students and faculty here are extremely intelligent down-to-earth individuals. Everyone here is collaborative and the flexibility of the IOE program has enabled me to take the courses I want. I am very happy that I made the decision to come here."
