Admission Criteria

Admission is competitive for all masters and doctoral programs.  Admission is determined by the following: 
  • Department, degree, and concentration of interest.
  • Transcripts of your academic record.
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General test scores.
  • Recommendations from three faculty members who have supervised your coursework or research.
  • A written description of your graduate study objectives.
  • A personal statement for any additional information or extenuating circumstances is optional.
  • An applicant with a degree from an institution where the language of instruction is not English is required to provide official score reports from either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB), or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

Specific requirements will vary by engineering graduate degree program.
