“Using Groups”: A Sketch by the CRLT Players (for GSIs)
Description: The CRLT Players present provocative performances based upon research concerningthe experience of faculty and students. In this interactive performance, the troupe will perform a sketchportraying the complexities that often accompany assigned group work in the classroom. After the sketch, there willbe a facilitated discussion between the audience and the characters from the sketch, prompting reflection on issuesrelated to group work such as the importance of effective instructions, problematic group dynamics, and the instructor’sresponsibilities regarding classroom climate.
