Assuring Michigan's Knowledge-Based Workforce
A Summit on
Diversity + Opportunity
in K-16+ Engineering Education
In Michigan’s emerging knowledge-based economy, we’ll need innovative engineers—a
diverse group of the best and brightest creative thinkers and problem solvers from
across the state.
But the pipeline—especially for women and underrepresented minorities—is not in place.
What can we do to ensure that our next generation of engineers is well-educated, diverse
and prepared to lead Michigan into the future?
Industry, U-M and other educational innovators joined together on U-M's North Campus to explore the issue, examine our progress and plan for the future at this landmark event on Tuesday, October 13, 2009.
The keynote address was delivered by Chuck Vest, President, National Academy of Engineering, former MIT President, U-M Provost and U-M College of Engineering Dean.
