Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary. Considerable knowledge of University and sponsored research policies, rules and regulations is necessary. Knowledge of University accounting principles and applications is necessary. High-level computer skills are required. Demonstrated experience in the use of Business Objects, M-Pathways, Excel and FileMaker Pro. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.

Note:  This position is for 20 hours per week.  The listed salary range of  $40,000-$50,000 is the full-time rate; the compensation rate range for a 50% appointment is $20,000-$25,000.

Work schedule will be 8:00 am - Noon, Monday - Friday.

Responsible for the coordination of pre-award and post-award activities relating to grant and contract proposals. Provide assistance to departmental faculty with proposal submissions. Provide budgets for various federal and non-federal sponsors and revise as needed. Process forms necessary for sponsored research proposals and projects including PAF, sponsor documents, electronic submission packets, 7471's, and FDP's.  Assist faculty with the preparation of IDC waiver requests, and/or cost-sharing requests. Ensure applications meet agency and university guidelines and published time tables and deadlines. Monitor expenditures and make recommendations to keep within budget. Set up new project grants, re-budget funds and make changes as necessary. Resolve outstanding issues with DRDA and Financial Operations. Manage cost share, subprojects and subcontracts. Assist in the enforcement of various sponsored research policies and procedures. Responsible for project management of sponsored and non-sponsored project grants. Reconcile statement of activity using an encumbrance-based accounting system. Work with Financial Operations and Payroll to make any necessary corrections. Prepare journal entries as needed. Respond to requests for financial information from sponsors. Research, analyze and resolve any project grant related issues and questions. Review financial reports and alert project directors and administration to any areas of concern. Prepare spending projections as requested. Close out project grants when ended. Finalize FSR's and resolve A-21 issues with Financial Operations. Assist in the development of procedures as required to meet new mandates for accounting practices. Review and sign petty cash requests. Mentor and train administrative staff.
Communicate on a regular basis with the Assistant Department Manager regarding routine matters to insure smooth operations. Perform other duties and ad hoc reports as requested
